When getting ASCII files from the GEISA server, please note that there
are some features concerning their use on PC compatibles and on UNIX workstations.

ASCII files are a set of text lines ending with the end of line symbol
EOL. However, UNIX EOL symbol occupies two bytes whereas that of
PC occupies one byte.
All ASCII files available from this server are UNIX format files.
To be used on PC, they should be converted into the appropriate format:
the simplest way is to put them on a UNIX work station and then make a
ftp transfer on a PC. The same method can be used for the GEISA-97 database
file (*.gz): one should transfer it from the GEISA server to a work station,
decompress it by the "gzip -d" command, and then transfer the
decompressed file to a PC.
