20 |
When getting ASCII files from the GEISA server, please note that there |
---|
21 | are some features concerning their use on PC compatibles and on UNIX workstations. |
---|
22 |
|
---|
23 | ASCII files are a set of text lines ending with the end of line symbol |
---|
24 | EOL. However, UNIX EOL symbol occupies two bytes whereas that of |
---|
25 | PC occupies one byte.
|
---|
26 | All ASCII files available from this server are UNIX format files. |
---|
27 | To be used on PC, they should be converted into the appropriate format: |
---|
28 | the simplest way is to put them on a UNIX work station and then make a |
---|
29 | ftp transfer on a PC. The same method can be used for the GEISA-97 database |
---|
30 | file (*.gz): one should transfer it from the GEISA server to a work station, |
---|
31 | decompress it by the "gzip -d" command, and then transfer the |
---|
32 | decompressed file to a PC.
|
---|
