Training courses in modipsl and libIGCM

The platform groupe at IPSL climate Center gives 2 different one-day training courses in how to use the IPSL models and the tools necessary. Both courses are given in english. In general the moring is dedicated to lecture and afternoon for hands on exercises. The courses are given at Maison de la Simulation or at IDRIS in a classe room containing computers used for the hands on exercises. See below the description, presentation and exercises for the last given training courses. This material is updated before each new course.

1- Basic training cours to learn how to use modipsl and libIGCM. This course is for beginners and for people who want to refresh their memory.

2- Advanced training course : the second course for users with some experience with modipsl/libIGCM. This course is also recomanded for everybody that followed the Basic training course. You'll learn about post-treatment, see how to best follow a simulation, repair errors, verify and redo post-treatment, and more.

• - Hands on exercises : The afternoons are dedicated to hands on exercises. To do the hands on exercises a personal login at TGCC or IDRIS is needed. If you don't have one, please start directly the procedure which can be long. Some of the exercises can be done at the LSCE cluster(obelix). NB! INSCRIPTION to the courses are mandatory. This is necessary to have entrance access at "Maison de la simulation"/"IDRIS" where the courses are given. For inscription you need to give your login at TGCC/IDRIS or LSCE(obelix) and indicate who is your employer.

Next training session

Next training courses in running environment of IPSL models will be given 21st and 22nd of May at IDRIS (Institut du développement et des ressources en informatique scientifique) in Orsay (91)

1- 21st of May, 9h30-17h : Basic training course to learn how to use modipsl and libIGCM.
This course is for beginners and for people who want to refresh their memory.
The course contains lecture and hands on session.

2- 22nd of May, 9h30-17h : Advanced training course : the second course for users with some experience with modipsl/libIGCM. You'll see how to best follow a simulation, repair errors, verify and redo post-tretement, and more...
This training is open and recommanded to people who have done the "basic training".
The course contains lecture and hands on session.

Additionnal information :

• Sessions will be held at IDRIS (Institut du développement et des ressources en informatique scientifique) at Orsay.
• Sessions will be held in english if needed.
• Please send by email your inscription before 5th of May at Josefine Ghattas (Josefine.Ghattas@…) with following information :
  • which training you want to follow (the first, the second, or both)
  • your login at TGCC or IDRIS. Please indicate if you don't have any login.
  • if you want an English session or a French session.
  • your expectation about the course (specific questions,...)
