Description
Case nmldp = 1
The test (avt(ji,jj,jk) < 5.e-4) could be reached several time under mixed layer ... and levitus temperatures and salinity are not damped on this deep layers.
In comparison, see how mixed layer depth is calculated (same case nmldp = 1) in zdfmxl.F90 routine.

This has been done intentionally. When avt is large in the interior ocean (>5cm2/s) it is due to static instabilities.
One possible cause of these static instability is the restoring itself. It is thus no that wise to keep it active.
If another source drives the instability, then when avt=avt_evd, the stability will be restored rather quickly and the damping term will re-become active.
No modification done.
