Description

Hi,

It can have a flimsiness there the minimum mld at 10m (with variable nla10, nlb10) and the used of nn_etau==2 in zdftke if you have a vertical grid with less than 10m in the first levels.
I purpose:
1) erease the nn_etau==2 case
2) maybe change the 10m forced reference for the mld with a namelist parameter (with default value at 10m)

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

The 10m value has not been defined having in mind a specific ocean vertical resolution in vicinity of the surface.

The minimum depth of 10m for the diagnosed mld is related to the way MLD is evaluated in the data. The test in data is always done with the 10m temperature in order to avoid a possible diurnal cycle, so we do the same in the model.

The value of 10m for htau(:,:) in case of nn_htau=1 is given as an example: user is free to change it as well as he is free to change the latitudinal shape given in nn_htau=2 case. I agree this may be a namelist parameter. Anyway, in the namelist the default value are given explicitly, so that a user knows exactly what is done and can decided to modify these hard code values.
