New URL for NEMO forge!   http://forge.nemo-ocean.eu

Since March 2022 along with NEMO 4.2 release, the code development moved to a self-hosted GitLab.
This present forge is now archived and remained online for history.

total weeks :
20+4+10+60 = 96 wk

UCL.1 — Optimal LIM3 parameters

Motivation: Provide a fine calibration of the most important parameters of LIM3 by using an ensemble Kalman filter 5EnKF) approach.
Status : ongoing, EnKF implemented with NEMO-LIM3. - C. König (PostDoc?)
main tasks : (22 wk)
(1) Compute the optimal parameters for LIM3 and provide them mainly through a modification of the LIM3 namlist
Principal Investigator : Christof König (christof.konigbeatty@…)

UCL.2 — LIM3 documentation

Motivation: Write LIM3.
Status : ongoing, the 1D version has been developped and tested - O. Lecomte (PhD)
Long term development Not expected to be returned back to the system before 2011.
main tasks : (4 wk)
(1) Integration of the 1D model into the 3D and validation.
Principal Investigator :M. Vancoppenolle (vancop@…)

UCL.3 — Newly formed ice representation

Motivation: etter representation of the physics of pancake ice (newly formed sea-ice) in LIM3.
Status : not started
main tasks : (10 wk)

(1) implementation and physical validation of a newly formed ice representation, NVTK - v3.4. Principal Investigator :M. Vancoppenolle (vancop@…)

Principal Investigator :M. Vancoppenolle (vancop@…)

UCL.4 — Long term developments

Motivation: Three aspects of LIM3 will be further improved or : (1) the integration of a new and more realistic snow model into LIM3 ; (2) the build-up of a more physical formulation of the sea-ice rheology ; (3) the introduction of a ice biogeochemistry module.
Status : All those developments have already started. They are the major subject of O. Lecomte and S. Bouillon' PhDs?, and M. Vancoppenolle PostDoc?
Long term development Not expected to be returned back to the system before at least 2011.
main tasks : (60 wk)
(1) 1D snow model already developed and tested. Integration of the 1D model into the 3D and validation in 2010 (O. Lecomte PhD).
(2) Continuation of the development of a new ice rheology (S. Bouillon PhD).
(3) 1D bio-ice model already developped and tested (Coppenolle et al. JGR09 in press) Integration of the 1D model into the 3D and validation in 2010 (M. Vancoppenolle PostDoc?).
Principal Investigator : Thierry. Fichefet (fichefet@…)
