LOCEAN .1 - MPP evolution (continuation)

Motivation: Improve the mpp behaviour of NEMO by playing with width of the overlap area, the number of communication,
Status : We are now using 1 point overlap area. Possibility to use more exists but is not compatible with the North Fold condition
Main tasks :
(1)switch to a 2 points with overlap area
(2)suppress useless communication (there should be only 2 for the internal mode)

LOCEAN .2 - Coupled interface (continuation)

Motivation: The current coupled surface module only work with LIM2. Its functionality should be extended to the cases where sea ice is not used (for example with region coupled configuration), and where a multi category sea-ice component is used (LIM3 or CICE).
Status : Preliminary work has been done for CICE

Motivation: introduce an arbitrary lagrangian eulerian coordinate to reduce spurious diapycnal mixing due to high frequency vertical variations

Motivation: Handle less geochemichal models for code management.
Status : Don't panic, LOBSTER will remain there, but included into PISCES

LOCEAN -8 - ORCA2-LIM based on NEMO (continuation)

Motivation: Provide to all groups using NEMO in coupled O/I/A simulations a reference set of forced experiments that document the effect of various physical package as well as the changes from the OPA8 to NEMO with respect to the ocean and ice components (and possibly PISCES). This is part of the IsENES EU project.
Status : ORCA2-LIM2 configuration (bathy, physics) has been updated, and Standard output for IPCC runs using IOM(v3.2). An environment has been developed to run long forced and coupled experiments together with the creation of standard control plots. Simulations have been performed (reference CORE2 normal year and interannual simulations )
Main tasks :

(2) Web and paper documentations of the behaviour found

LEGI-9 - Development of TAM (continuation)

Motivation: development of the Tangent and Adjoint Model (TAM) of NEMO.
Status : Grenoble action (LJK, LEGI, ANR VODA), a 3 year project started in 2008, and well engaged: (1) first release of tangent linear and adjoint model phased with nemo_v3 ocean dynamics, which includes ORCA2_Z31, GYRE_Z31, POMME025 configurations, MPP capabilities and documentation; (2) validation tools available (adjoint test, tangent linear hypothesis); (3) coding phase achieved for TAM phased with nemo_v3.2 & nemo_v3.2.1 (6 wks).
main tasks :
(1) include Grenoble validation tools in the NVTK settings: NVTK workshop required.
(2) create tutorial, test cases and reference experiment for Adjoint (4 wks - nemo_v3 ).
(3) organise the review cycles for nemotam.
(4) validation of 3.2 to be completed.
