Description (last modified by luyssaert)
Adding a ipresenescence plant_status makes essentially that the parameter of ‘leaffall’, i.e., the length of defoliation almost useless. A more ecological sensible approach to simulate the defoliation length is to compare maintenance respiration with GPP, and defoliation speed should be in proportion with the deficit (i.e., GPP - Rm, Rm = maintenance respiration).
This needs literature study and careful parameterization. https://science.sciencemag.org/content/370/6520/1066/tab-e-letters
Increased growing-season productivity drives earlier autumn leaf senescence in temperate trees. They show that the autumn senescence is inversely proportional to GPP (Fig 1).
