Description

Context

The current zdfiwm.F90 (internal wave driven mixing) routine was coded prior to the CMIP6 exercise, as documented in chapter 5 of my PhD thesis (​https://tel.archives-ouvertes.fr/tel-01592475). A refined version has been published since (​https://doi.org/10.1029/2020MS002065). This refined version is simpler and has been thoroughly validated against observations.

Proposal

I propose to update the routine to match that recently published. The updated routine is already coded and used by several NEMO users (Camille Lique, Dorotea Iovino, Casimir de Lavergne), but isn't public yet. The updated routine is also simpler and computationally more efficient.
