In internal basins, water can accumulate in the "lake" reservoir. This yield a drift of the sea-level in coupled ocean-atmosphere simulations.

Proposed action (following a discussion between O. Marti and J. Polcher).

  • Set a maximum of water height in all water bodies (i.e. around 100m)
  • Water in excess should be send in the deep routing. It will return to the ocean with a time scale of decades, which is acceptable for the coupled model.

We will define a maximum threshold for the remaing water after having extracted threshold. Excess over a threshold in the lakes will be distributed globally in all slow aquifers. To be done by Jan P.
