#183 closed enhancement (fixed)

Changing humcste with depth of soil moisture

Reported by: jpolcher Owned by: jgipsl
Priority: major Milestone:
Component: Anthropogenic processes Version:
Keywords: Cc:

depending on the depth of the soil the root profile parameter may or should be changed.

The code includes this possibility of change by switching between the humste_mct and humcste_cwrr root parameter for all the of the 13 PFTs.

There is a bug as the code does not switch between both parameter sets based on the depth but rather on the hydrology type :

If (hydrol_cwrr ) THEN

humcste(:) = humcste_cwrr(pft_to_mtc(:)) ! values for 2m soil depth

humcste(:) = humcste_mtc(pft_to_mtc(:)) ! values for 4m soil depth

This should be based on a "IF (dpu_max == 2)" or something of the kind.

ORCH Ticket meeting 29/9:

Change name :

  • humcste_cwrr into humcste_ref2m
  • humcste_mct into humcste_ref4m

Change to switch depending on the depth of the hydrology (zmaxh) instead of hydrol_cwrr. Add warning if the zmaxh is different from 2 or 4m.

It is not possible to add the above described test using zmaxh where the initialization currently is done in pft_parameters_init. At this moment zmaxh is not yet initialized. zmaxh is initialized in vertical_soil_init. I'll try to move the "CALL vertical_soil_init" before "CALL pft_parameters_main" in control_initialize.
