The set-up consists in a spinup of ORCHIDEE_v3 offline, in order to put the land component at equilibrium. And to use the associated restarts for SRF and SBG components in IPSLCM6.1.12_LANDN-LR model, while the other components are restarted from the piControl run done with IPSLCM6A-LR model.

To be as closed as possible for the former piControl run, one uses the meteorological outputs at 3-hourly resol. of the piControl run, stored on ciclad (/bdd/CMIP6/CMIP/IPSL/IPSL-CM6A-LR/piControl/r1i1p1f1)

A script has been developped for generating ORCHIDEE input files from this dataset (/data/nvuichard/script_cmip6.ksh) and a job for launching it (job_cmip6_picontrol). Both files are in attachment.

Input files are stored on ciclad under /data/nvuichard/CMIP6_forcing_ORCHIDEE/piControl
and on irene under /ccc/work/cont003/drf/p529vui/CMIP6_forcing_ORCHIDEE/piControl/

Spinup run with these input files has been prepared here:

ORCHIDEE restart files produced from a simulation using the input data from IPSLCM6A can not be used as restarts for IPSLCM6.1.12_LANDN-LR due to a problem of ordering of the lat x lon grid (see comment about simulation TEST3-cnfree-rest-CM61-LR-pi-01 in ticket #803)

Indeed, one needs to reverse the longitude and adapt the latitude. See script script_modifaxis.ksh in attachment.

There is an issue with the Snow mass variable (swe) which is continuously increasing. It does not stabilize over the 340 years of the spinup.
This implies the encountered problem in IPSLCM6.1.12_LANDN-LR when restarting from that offline simulation (see comment about TEST4-cnfree-rest-CM61-LR-pi-01 experiment in ticket #803).

Further analysis shows that it is indeed a single pixel (in Alaska) that accumulates abnormaly snow.

If one removes this single pixel, the time evolution of the swe variable is ok, and stabilizes over time (in black, time evolution with all pixels, in red will all pixels except the problematic one)

Note that the model behavior with this forcing is not specific to ORCHIDEE_v3. ORCHIDEE_2_0 behaves similarly.
