This ticket describes the test simulations for CMIP6 with ORCHIDEE_v3 version (with the nitrogen cycle)

TEST-CM61-LR-pi-01 directory (experiment TEST-CM61-LR-pi-01)

First test.

  • Restart from the CM61-pre-pi-01 experiment (piControl-spinup) for all components except SRF and SBG.
  • SBG and SRF start from scratch.
  • Flag IMPOSE_CN à TRUE = No dynamical Nitrogen cycle.

  • Restart from the CM61-pre-pi-01 experiment (piControl-spinup) for all components except SRF and SBG.
  • SBG and SRF start from scratch.
  • Flag IMPOSE_CN à FALSE = Dynamical Nitrogen cycle.

TEST3-CM61-LR-pi-01 directory (experiment TEST3-cnfree-rest-CM61-LR-pi-01)

  • Restart from the CM61-pre-pi-01 experiment (piControl-spinup) for all components except SRF and SBG.
  • SBG and SRF start from offline spinup (/ccc/store/cont003/gen6328/p529vui/IGCM_OUT/OL2/PROD/ORCHv3-r7245/FG1-r7245-CMIP6)
  • Flag IMPOSE_CN à FALSE = No dynamical Nitrogen cycle.


This simulation crashes. The restart files from ORCHIDEE are not in the correct grid (see comment in ticket #802)

TEST4-CM61-LR-pi-01 directory (experiment TEST4-cnfree-rest-CM61-LR-pi-01)

  • Restart from the CM61-pre-pi-01 experiment (piControl-spinup) for all components except SRF and SBG.
  • SBG and SRF start from offline spinup (/ccc/store/cont003/gen6328/p529vui/IGCM_OUT/OL2/PROD/ORCHv3-r7267/FG1-r7267-CMIP6) => They are now well formatted to be used as a restart for the coupled model
  • Flag IMPOSE_CN à FALSE = No dynamical Nitrogen cycle.
  • 50-year simulation

Key issue is related to water. Sea level increases abormally, many ocean variables are impacted. It seems that Snow mass is reducing (variable swe), which corresponds to a big input of water to the ocean. See further comment on ticket #802

  • Restart from the CM61-pre-pi-01 experiment (piControl-spinup) for all components except SRF and SBG.
  • SBG from offline spinup (/ccc/store/cont003/gen6328/p529vui/IGCM_OUT/OL2/PROD/ORCHv3-r7267/FG1-r7267-CMIP6) and SRF from scratch
  • Flag IMPOSE_CN à FALSE = No dynamical Nitrogen cycle.
  • 20-year simulation

One needs to wait for the equlibrium of the SRF component, but the overall model behavior looks ok.
