Summary of SHARED ACTIONS (listed here for continuity)

Action Brief description Status Branch name Trac ticket n° Wiki page name Reviewer(s) Review status Shared Action Stream
CMCC-4 System simplification completed dev_r5056_CMCC4_simplification #1456 G. Madec (?) Done SIMPLIF-2
CMCC-5 OBC with BDY for biogeochemistry completed dev_r5144_CMCC5_BDY_for_TOP #1441 D. Storkey; C. Ethé Done ROBUST-5

CMCC-1 - Scalability with MPI-OPENMP

Motivation: Improve NEMO scalability.
Status : continuation of 2014 dev CMCC-1
Main tasks : extension of the hybrid OpenMP/MPI approach to the entire code
Science Reviewer:
System Reviewer:
Deadline: December 2015
Priority: HIGH
Depends on:
Principal Investigator : S. Mocavero (silvia.mocavero@…)

CMCC-2 - Performance analysis of parallel IO

Motivation: Improve NEMO IO scalability
Status : New
Main tasks : performance comparison between XIOS and other parallel I/O approaches such as MPI-IO and Parallel NetCDF.
Science Reviewer:
System Reviewer:
Deadline: June 2015
Priority: LOW
Depends on: XIOS
Principal Investigator : S. Mocavero (silvia.mocavero@…)

CMCC-3 - Ensemble generation suite

Motivation: to generate ensemble members by spanning uncertainties in the atmospheric forcing and the model parameterizations
Status : new
Main tasks : The ensemble generation suite consists of three components, switchable either simultaneously or individually. The components perturb i) the atmospheric forcing, provided as input the atmospheric parameter standard deviation and possibly, the temporal decorrelation scale of the perturbations. These perturbations are correlated in time and space, and the user can choose the correlation scales; ii) the model tendencies within a number of user-selected tendencies (e.g. tracer diffusion, solar penetration, etc.). Perturbations are collinear to the tendencies and the user can choose the decorrelation scales of the perturbations; iii) selected namelist parameters, provided a user-compiled range of values for the individual parameters (e.g. vertical eddy viscosity, etc.).

System Reviewer:
Deadline: December 2015
Priority: LOW-MEDIUM
Depends on:
Principal Investigator : A. Storto (andrea.storto@…)

CMCC-4 - System simplification (in SHARED ACTIONS)

Motivation: CMCC will contribute to the simplification process removing obsolescent features. Specific details on what and when have yet to be worked out.
Status : Completed and included in dev_merge_2015
Main tasks :

Depends on:
Principal Investigator : D. Iovino (dorotea.iovino@…)

CMCC-5 - OBC with BDY for biogeochemistry (in SHARED ACTIONS)

Motivation: finalize the treatment of boundary conditions for TOP
Status : Completed and included in dev_merge_2015
Main tasks : use BDY with biogeochemistry using the structures implemented in 2014 development.
Science Reviewer: D. Storkey
System Reviewer: C. Ethé
Deadline: March 2015
Priority: HIGH
Depends on:
Principal Investigator : T. Lovato (tomas.lovato@…)
