Nils then said that a version could be released, and ECMWF could give support to do it, up to seasonal timescales. Mike supported the idea and said that this methodology could be used in combination with other approaches as the one in ECMWF. Peter Dueben however said the approach in ECMWF is put everything in single precision and then fix the errors.
