New URL for NEMO forge!   http://forge.nemo-ocean.eu

Since March 2022 along with NEMO 4.2 release, the code development moved to a self-hosted GitLab.
This present forge is now archived and remained online for history.

Overall review of LaTeX sources (not tested completely as of now):

  • Reworking global files: main document.tex, add glossary.tex, cosmetic changes...
  • Ignore missing namelists (namsbc_isf, namsbc_iscpl and namptr)
  • Removal of references for unused indices (\hfile, \ifile and \jp)
  • Update of .svnignore and svn:ignore properties accordingly
  • Split of manual abstract into a common NEMO abs for all and a specific one for each engine
  • Shrinking variables names used in the frontmatter

5``Nucleus for European Modelling of the Ocean'' as \NEMO\ is a state-of-the-art modelling framework of
6ocean-related engines for research activities and forecasting services in oceanography and climatology,
7developed in a sustainable way since 2008 by a European consortium of 5 institutes
8(\CMCC{CMCC} | \CNRS{CNRS} | \MOI{Mercator Océan} | \UKMO{Met Office} | \NERC{NERC}).
9It is intended to be a flexible tool for studying the physical and biogeochemical phenomena in
10the ocean circulation, as well as its interactions with the components of the Earth climate system,
11over a wide range of space and time scales.
12
13Concerning the physics, the fundamental engine for the \textcolor{blue}{``blue ocean''} solves
14the primitive equations of the ocean \{thermo\}dynamics.
15It can be supplemented by the \textcolor{gray}{``white ocean''} for sea-ice \{thermo\}dynamics,
16brine inclusions and subgrid-scale thickness variations (\SIcube), and also by
17the \textcolor{green}{``green ocean''} for \{on,off\}line oceanic tracers transport and
18biogeochemical processes (\TOP-\PISCES).
19External alternative models can be used instead of the core engines (\eg\ \CICE\ and \BFM).
20Regarding the numerics, main features include versatile data assimilation interface,
21agile diagnostics generation thanks to \XIOS\ software,
22ocean-atmosphere coupling via the \OASIS\ library, and
23seamless embedded zooms with the \AGRIF\ 2-way nesting package.
